Spring is in the air!May 5th, 2009 // General News

Spring is a very busy time of year for us here at Scottish Christmas Trees.   First of all we sorted out all the container grown Christmas trees and repotted those that needed it, and then moved all the containers to the nurseries that they will spend the next 12 months in.         We have just finished planting the young trees in the fields and these  will grow for at least 7 years before we can think about cutting them down to sell as Christmas trees.

Once all the planting is done we give all our trees a little organic seaweed to help them grow and give them a good colour.

This is a very busy time of year on the farm with all our cows giving birth to their calves.      We also have a few sheep and they have just started to have their lambs.   So there are a lot of young animals around.

Recently,  I noticed that the first of the swallows had arrived, and also heard the cuckoo for the first time – surely a sign of Spring and warmer weather!!
